Can a vaccine solve all our problems? Is it possible to mass produce a brand-new vaccine that is being rushed to the market in hopes of quelling our generation’s most dangerous pandemic? There are more questions than answers at this point. Individuals that tested positive for Covid-19 have antibodies, but they may lose those antibodies (which protect them from contracting the virus) and become susceptible to the virus for a second time. Could this happen even after vaccination?
Read MoreThere have been one million new US cases in just the last 17 days (Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, 2020). Over 97,000 children have tested positive in the last two weeks of July (American Academy of Pediatrics). One would think that with the recent increase in virus statistics, there would be more masks and social distancing.

Not only can this be dangerous, but it leads to a stressful and uncomfortable situation for the patient who is already dealing with a lingering cancer diagnosis. I know this situation because I witnessed it first hand when my mother, a three time breast cancer survivor, had to switch plastic surgeons in the middle of a two part reconstruction due to a change in her insurance policy.
